Dear colleague,

Greetings from the Whitney R. Harris World Law Institute!

Allow me to wish you a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year, and welcome you to Lex lata, lex ferenda, the Harris Institute’s blog. It features commentary on issues of foreign affairs and international and comparative law.  It will also serve as a resource to the Law School, the University and the larger local, national and global community.  Postings and comments will be moderated by me and Harris Institute Fellow, Madaline George. We welcome postings and comments from our entire readership, and will be featuring, in particular, Washington University law school faculty, students, alumni and staff.

We are starting off this month with four postings by former students and myself.  These inaugural postings highlight issues ranging from the cases before the International Criminal Court to testimony concerning police violence at the UN Committee Against Torture, stemming from the unrest in Ferguson, Missouri.

You can subscribe to our blog by submitting your email address at the bottom of the right column or simply type in to your web browser and add our site to your “favorites.”

We look forward to having the opportunity to serve you better through this new venture and to receive your comments and postings as well.

Bonne année á tous!
