If you’re like me, and thought you wanted to do fellowship but honestly had no clue how to go about applying for one, you’ll probably go to the Skadden or EJW webpages and breathe a sigh of relief at how late their deadlines are. It’s a trick! So much work goes into your application before it gets to either of those organizations, so you need to plan ahead. First, you have to get sponsored by a host organization (the place where you’d spend your fellowship year). Many of these organizations have internal application processes that occur just to determine who they will sponsor for the application. Because they occur before, these internal deadlines can be as early as May 30th, so you can make it through all of the rounds and still have time to work on the actual fellowship application. So, if fellowships are something you’re interested, talk to CCD to get your application materials done and ready to send out to your preferred host organizations. Lastly, some organizations (like mine) have internally funded fellowships. these are a great option and cut the process in half. These deadlines also come early, so be sure to check for both if you find an organization that you like.
