The Honors Program

A Career in the Office of the Solicitor

Who We Are
The Office of the Solicitor, the legal counsel for the U.S. Department of Labor employs approximately 540 attorneys who enforce and interpret the nation’s labor and employment laws.

The Honors Program at the Office of the Solicitor provides challenging professional opportunities for outstanding law school graduates. Honors Program attorneys work in the Solicitor’s Office at the department’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., gaining exposure to a broad range of substantive legal work in the government’s preeminent legal offices.

From the first day in the Solicitor’s Office, Honors Program attorneys gain practical experience in carrying out the Labor Department’s important mission: to promote the welfare of wage earners, job seekers, and retirees, improve working conditions, advance opportunities for profitable employment, and ensure work-related benefits and rights.
