While in law school you will have the opportunity to build a number of habits which will serve you well throughout your legal career, both in the classroom and outside of it. Habits related to self-care and wellness are critically important to practice and implement now. According to a 2016 study by the Association of American Law Schools for the Journal of Legal Education, law students often experience elevated rates of anxiety and substance abuse because of the intense pressure to perform at a high level; often times, the study found, law students turned to substance abuse as a coping mechanism.
