Job Summary:

The selected Interns will perform a variety of legal duties for the National Case Assistance Center.  These duties include, but are not limited to:  conducting legal research applying SSA rules, regulations, and policies; reviewing cases for issues that may require additional analysis; preparing cases for hearing; and drafting decisions for Administrative Law Judges.

Key Requirements:

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting are required of the selected Intern.
  • Selective Service registration required for male applicants, unless exempt.
  • Writing sample requirement.

Writing Sample Requirement:

Submit a writing sample (i.e., a memo, brief, publication note, or other document containing a comparable level of analysis).  Writing samples will be judged on the basis of an applicant’s ability to analyze a problem and clearly and concisely articulate rationale.  Please include a brief description explaining the initial purpose of the writing sample submitted and why this topic was selected.
