Pro tip:   If you are interning at an office where you would like to work post-graduation, try and do a rotation, shadow or get assignment from the unit where newly hired attorneys are assigned (often a misdemeanor unit).  While not as flashy as perhaps a violent crimes unit, this will allow you to gain experience doing the duties of a newly hired District Attorney.  This experience can help to set you apart from other applicants when you are interviewing post-graduation as you can emphasize that you understand that assignments of newly hired attorneys and are able to immediately contribute to the work done by newly hired District Attorneys.  A good balance between higher profile cases and the work that less experienced Prosecutor’s juggle daily will make you a desirable candidate when you apply to join the office.
