  • OARM is excited to announce that the Attorney General’s Honors Program (HP) and Summer Law Intern Program (SLIP) application opens on Monday, July 31, 2023, and will close on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 11:59 PM ET. Applications must be submitted via the online application. We have many great opportunities through the HP for your third-year law students and recent graduates and for second-year students through the SLIP.
  • OARM is hosting HP and SLIP Application Tips Webinars to rising second- and third-year law students. There are two chances to attend. These webinars will not be recorded. If your students cannot attend any of the offerings, please encourage them to review the websites and our Application Tips and Checklist

2024-2026 Social Justice and Impact Litigation Fellowship – County of Santa Clara Office of the County Counsel

About the 2024-2026 Social Justice and Impact Litigation Fellowship at the County of Santa Clara Office of the County Counsel:

The Social Justice and Impact Litigation Team litigates high-impact cases, drafts innovative local ordinances, and develops new policies and programs to advance the County’s goal of achieving social and economic justice for all its residents and to promote local, state, and national public policy reform.  The 2024-2026 Fellow will contribute to a growing movement to use the power and perspective of local government to drive long-lasting social change.

The two-year fellowship is open to recent law school graduates, judicial law clerks, and current third-year law students (J.D. expected in Spring 2024) and begins in September 2024.  For members of the California Bar, the starting salary is $132,640 – $204,869, per year, depending on experience.  The application deadline is August 18, 2022. Application Process and Deadline
To apply, please send a resume, cover letter describing your experience and interest in working through local government to advance the public interest, legal writing sample, list of three references, and unofficial law school transcript to our Fellowship Hiring Committee at fellowship@cco.sccgov.org. Applications must be submitted by Friday, August 18, 2023. The Office expects to complete the fellowship hiring process in September or October 2023.

Each fall, Equal Justice Works (EJW) hosts its annual Career Fair, the largest public interest legal career fair in the country. This fair brings together hundreds of law students, recent graduates, and public interest employers and practitioners from across the US for three days of prescheduled interviews and informal “table talk” discussions.

The 2023 EJW Career Fair will take place virtually, ensuring continued accessibility and inclusivity for attendees, on October 12-14, 2023 via the legal hiring platform, Flo Recruit.

Registration is $25, but current WashULaw students can register for the EJW Career Fair at no cost. Starting Thursday, August 3 at 10:00 a.m. ETWashULaw students can use the promo code 2023EJWCareerFair_WUSTLLaw when registering for the event for free registration. Successful Summer Tip #18: DOJ SLIP and Honors – Apply Early!

Are you ready? The DOJ opens its paid 2L summer application and 3L post-grad application in less than two weeks! For rising 2Ls, the DOJ offers a 2024 paid, summer internship with various participating components, including antitrust, criminal, civil and the Bureau of Prisons. For rising 3Ls, the DOJ also seeks applicants for various participating components with some variation from the SLIP components, and with some locations outside of D.C. The post-grad Honors positions are for differing terms after graduation, but they are usually one to two years. The application for 2Ls through the Summer Law Internship Program (SLIP) and for 3Ls through the Honors Program are similar, including two, personal essays and an online application. 

The DOJ starts accepting applications on July 31st and the deadline is September 5th at 11 PM CST. MSPD will be hosting another virtual career fair, coming up on August 24th. The event will be in a webinar format, with career information sessions in the morning, and interview appointments available in the afternoon. Successful Summer Tip #17: Getting Started on Your Post-Grad Fellowship Application

The time to start your post-graduate fellowship applications is NOW for the class of 2024. Post-graduate fellowships allow you to pursue a passion research project, often with outside funding. The two most widely known fellowships are Equal Justice Works and Skadden, but there are many from which to choose.

Log on to PSJD.org and search for existing fellows programs. Some fellowships will allow you to create a project of your own, while others have research topics selected and need a fellow to conduct the research.  We are quickly approaching several deadlines, so the time to start your application is now.

Here are a few key dates to keep in mind as you work on your application:
