Apply! Students apply to any job they are interested in with the materials required by the employer, and the employer then “pre-selects” the students they wish to interview.

Summer Associate Hub (popular free content/resource hub for 1Ls preparing for the BigLaw recruiting process) is hosting a Live Virtual 1L Program Showcase on January 10, 2024, at 8pm ET / 5pm PT, featuring MoFo, Proskauer, Goodwin, and Troutman Pepper. Students can learn from these firms about their 1L Summer Programs, tips to succeed as an applicant for 1L programs and 1L summer associate, and other topics. Each firm will also have a breakout room where students can engage further the firm representatives and ask follow-up questions.

Validated parking is available in the Seventh Street Garage. The entrance to the garage is on the east side of Seventh Street, between Locust and Washington Ave. Proceed to the third floor of the garage and park in any available space. Take the garage elevators designated for 600 Washington, located in the northeastern section of the garage, to access the 600 Washington building lobby. Once in the lobby, you will be directed to the 600 Washington Tower elevator bank, which services our suite on the 25th floor.

OPENS TUESDAY | 2024 2L Summer Public Interest Program (SPIP) Application
The 2024 2L Summer Public Interest Program (SPIP) Application opens on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024 at 8:00 AM. Second-year students in need who work in eligible non-profit or government law positions full-time for a minimum of six weeks (roughly 200 hours) over the summer are eligible to apply for summer funding through a competitive application process. Most awards are $3,500, although there are a few larger awards. You are encouraged to apply, even if you have not settled on summer plans. You can always withdraw your application later.
SPIP is a modest award intended to help cover modest living expenses. SPIP is not comparable to the pay at firm jobs and is not free money. You must fulfill the SPIP requirements outlined in the SPIP Information Guide. It will never be to your disadvantage to apply for outside funding, and doing so is encouraged.
Because 2L funding is competitive, students are encouraged to ensure their applications are strong and demonstrate a commitment to a career in public interest. Set up an appointment via Symplicity to have your application materials reviewed by a Career Strategist before you hit submit so that you can stand out as a strong candidate.
ACCESS THE 2L APPLICATION HERE. The application opens on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024 at 8:00 AM and closes on Wednesday, Mar. 20, 2024 at 5:00 PM.
PLAN + PREP: Winter OCI
STEP 1:
January 1, You can begin viewing participating employers in Symplicity by selecting OCI > Scheduling > choose “2024 Winter OCI ” from the drop down.
STEP 2:
Read through employer job descriptions and begin your research. Add preferred employers to you job search spreadsheet and include required documents. The session will move fast, so preparation is key!
STEP 3:
Make sure your materials have been reviewed and uploaded to Symplicity for easy access. Be sure to label documents, especially your cover letters. Prep your university approved grade sheet and await grade distribution to add the missing pieces.
