Thank you to all that attended the 1L Quick Conversations networking event! Continue the connection and send a thank you. Starting this weekend and early next week, make sure to express your gratitude to employers who helped make it possible.

It is very important that you make timely contact with employers – emailed thank you notes are perfect. Weekend emails are a gray area, so you do not have to prioritize it over the weekend. Your thank you email to the employers you met should:

  • Be appreciative of their time;
  • Mention something memorable you discussed; and
  • Include a sentence about the future and your plans – “I will be applying to your firm after speaking with you,” etc.

If you were unable to participate or if you didn’t have the opportunity to see one of your top employers – no problem! You can still write them. Your email to those employers should:

  • Express that you wanted to see them, but were unable (do not mention the employers you prioritized over them);
  • Mention why you are interested in them;
  • Ask if the attorney may have 5 minutes for an informational meeting; and
  • Thank them for their time – it means a lot that they availed themselves to students.
