The Diversity Scholar Program is a coaching, training, and recruiting program designed to help law students secure their dream employment while simultaneously preparing them with the skills, knowledge, confidence, and savvy to flourish in their legal positions and climb the corporate leadership.
Program Perks
Students admitted into the program enjoy the following perks:
- Free tuition to attend a PracticePro Career Conference and Recruiting Reception (Spring 2020)
- Career coaching package, including customized coaching sessions and email coaching (April – September 2020)
- Free admission to webinars on topics covering resumes and cover letters, advanced interviewing techniques, networking, assessing firms, and more (Spring & Summer 2020)
- Recommendations for employment and scholarships to our firm partners (Summer 2020)
- Free admission to New Attorney Basics seminar (any time during law school or fall after graduation)
- Mentorship match to in-house corporate counsel to learn client collaboration and business development (after bar admission)
Eligibility
First-year law student (Class of 2022) enrolled at an ABA- accredited law school; and A member of a racial, ethnic, or gender group which has been historically underrepresented in the legal profession, a member of the LGBTQ community, or those with a disability.
To Apply
Please submit one PDF document (saved as “First and Last Name_1L DSP Application”, e.g., Bailey Robinson_1L DSP Application) with the following materials (#1-5 or #1-6, depending on when you apply) to scholarships@practicepro.cc, subject line “Diversity Scholar Program – [your law school name]”:
- Biographical Information Sheet (You will need to download the form and save it to your computer, then reopen it, fill it out and save it again, in order to have all of the information you entered saved on the form)
- Resume
- A short statement (350 word limit) on how your diversity has impacted your life’s journey and why you would like to be part of the 1L Diversity Scholar Program
- Undergraduate transcript (Unofficial copy of transcript is sufficient; please ensure that you include a transcript/grades for any credits that transferred to your undergraduate institution.)
- A 2-minute video introducing yourself (We love creativity! Smartphone recordings are welcome.)
- Law School transcript (We are aware that grades may not be released until after the January 13th application deadline. You must apply before the deadline, and then supplement your application with your law school transcript as soon as law school grades are released.
