Summer is here and so are firm summer receptions. A number of firms across the country are inviting law students to receptions, some as early as this month! These events are fantastic ways to learn more about firms, see their office spaces in person and meet their attorneys.
These receptions and engagement opportunities are an opportunity to learn about a firm’s culture, core values and to make valuable connections before OCI is underway in earnest. Knowing some of the OCI players in advance and having more intel on the firm’s practice areas and summer program will provide you with a definite advantage in the OCI application process. Firms remember who attended and often consider it a plus that you have shown demonstrated interest.
So, if you are interested in a 2L summer with a firm, get another wear out of your professional attire and plan on attending employer hosted events. Make sure to RSVP before you attend. We encourage you to RSVP early, most events have limited space.
