In Conversation with Connie Chung Joe, CEO of Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Los Angeles
In celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Mayer Brown invites you to the second event of our Race and Justice in America Speaker Series. Connie Chung Joe, the CEO of Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Los Angeles (“Advancing Justice – LA”), will join us in a virtual conversation on May 24 at 12pm EST. We will discuss, among other things, the movement for racial justice in diverse AAPI communities and how to keep momentum for the commitments made to advance racial equity in the United States. The discussion will be followed by an audience Q&A. Mayer Brown Partner Grace Shie will moderate.
About Connie Chung Joe
Connie Chung Joe is the CEO of Advancing Justice – LA, the nation’s largest civil rights organization for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders. As an advocate and community leader, she co-founded the API Human Trafficking Task Force of LA County, and co-chaired LA County’s API Mental Health and API Domestic Violence committees.
Connie currently serves as a member of Bank of America’s National Community Advisory Council and co-chairs LA v. Hate, a program to support Los Angelenos to end all forms of hate. Prior to joining Advancing Justice, she served as the Executive Director of Korean American Family Services and as a public interest lawyer in Los Angeles and Chicago. Connie received her JD from Georgetown University Law Center and her bachelor’s degree from University of Southern California.
