Chapman Named One of the Best Law Firms for Women in 2018

The 2018 list marks the ninth time Chapman and Cutler has been recognized by Working Mother for the firm’s career and business development initiatives to advance women attorneys

CHICAGO, July 31, 2018 — Chapman and Cutler LLP is pleased to announce that it has been named to the Best Law Firms for Women 2018 list, published by Working Mother, which worked in collaboration with the ABA Journal as a knowledge partner for the second year. The list recognizes 60 law firms that have demonstrated a significant commitment to career and business development initiatives focused on retaining and advancing women
attorneys. This is Chapman’s ninth appearance on the list.

“We are proud to be included again on this list as we continue supporting all Chapman attorneys in achieving both their professional and personal goals,” said Stacey Kielbasa, Director of Talent Development, Diversity and Human Resources. “Our women attorneys are critical to Chapman’s success, which is why we invest in and support programs that develop business, legal, and leadership skills, provide mentoring, and offer networking opportunities to help our women attorneys advance and succeed.”

Chapman continues to strengthen and develop a variety of initiatives tailored to support the careers of women attorneys. Partners Kim Ahlgrim, of the Asset Securitization Department, and Rebecca Wallenfelsz, of the Trusts and Estates Department, serve as co-chairs of Chapman’s Women’s Affinity Group, which hosts networking events and mentoring sessions to help attorneys prepare for leadership roles. The firm’s sponsor program pairs diverse
associates, counsel, senior counsel, and staff attorneys with firm leaders to identify and pursue professional and business development goals and opportunities. Chapman also has a Working Parents Affinity Group that offers parents resources and opportunities to share their experiences and insights. Chapman offers extensive parental leave, backup child care, employee assistance programs that provide support services for women and working parents, educational events, comprehensive benefits for same-sex couples, and private rooms for nursing mothers. Additionally, the firm has adopted policies designed to enable lawyers to work remotely more effectively as well as use flexible hours.

Chapman will be honored at the Best Law Firms for Women Gala Awards Luncheon and Career Accelerator Summit in Chicago on October 26, 2018.
