Office Spotlight: Austin

The Austin office of Baker Botts opened in 1982 and has grown to offer a broad range of experience in corporate, finance, tax, intellectual property, environmental, litigation, and global projects.

Hiring Partner Nick Schuneman notes — “Baker Botts Austin offers the best of both worlds. Our world-class lawyers handle sophisticated matters for clients around the globe, while living in one of the country’s most desirable cities. We benefit greatly from the city’s gravitational pull on smart, successful professionals. Austin attracts exceptional legal talent, which in turn attracts exceptional clients and work.”

In addition to offering a sophisticated law practice, Baker Botts has been active in the Austin community since its doors opened. Throughout the year, the Austin office participates in a variety of philanthropic programs. Most recently, the office hosted the annual United Way for Greater Austin fundraising campaign, an on-going tradition that began in 1991. The 2018 campaign included fundraising competitions, a Bike Build for Kids, a bake sale, volunteering for BookSpring, assembling welcome bags for the Family Connects program, and a Family Connects Supply Drive.  The Austin office raised over $100,000 for the 2018 United Way fundraising campaign and collected much needed supplies for Texas families with newborns.

1L Diversity Fellowship

At Baker Botts, we are committed to the recruitment, retention and development of exceptional attorneys and law students. A selection panel comprised of members of the Diversity Committee will review the applications.
