Bringing together thousands of law students, recent grads, public interest employers and law school faculty, the Equal Justice Works (EJW) Career Fair is the largest public interest career fair in the country. From Oct. 12-14, participants can join in prescheduled interviews and informal “table talk” discussions on public interest topics that matter to them. To ensure accessibility and inclusivity for all, the 2023 EJW Career Fair will be held virtually.
Students and recent graduates are encouraged to submit materials from Aug. 3 – Sept. 12 for prescheduled interviews with attending employers that are currently hiring. Interviews will be held via Flo Recruit, lasting approximately 20 minutes with a 10-minute break between each interview.
Here are a few tips on how to prepare for the EJW Career Fair and get the most out of your experience.
- For first year students, register for the EJW “1L Roadmap to Success in Public Interest Law” webinar. EJW will outline a roadmap to help students navigate their first year of law school and break down the timeline to help ensure that you land your dream summer public interest internship. This webinar will take place on Sept. 7 at 1:00 CST.
- Worried about interviewing? Attend the EJW webinar on “Public Interest Job Interviewing”. This webinar is designed to help you prepare for your prescheduled interviews and will include tips and tricks for standing out and making a positive impression during your interviews. This webinar will be held on Sept. 28 at 1:00 PM CST.
- Leading up to the event, EJW will host a webinar on “Getting the Most Out of the Virtual Career Fair” so that you can learn how to navigate the career fair platform, participate in your prescheduled interviews, and access the virtual “table talk” booths on Oct. 5 at 1:00 PM CST.
In addition to these webinars, and the EJW Conference and Career Fair Resources page, the Public Service Job Directory (PSJD) offers advice on navigating your path towards a public interest career, including how to apply and interview for public interest positions. And don’t forget, you can always set up an appointment via Symplicity and talk with any one of our many qualified Career Strategists.
