On Wednesday, October 23, OUTLaw and Husch Blackwell are excited to cosponsor a panel for diverse law students, in coordination with the Career Center: “The Game Within the Game – Taking Ownership of Your Career as a Diverse Law Student.” The panel is best-suited for 1Ls. It will be from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. in Room 306. Lunch will be provided.
The panel will be moderated by Jason Husgen : Jason is a litigator at Husch Blackwell, with broad experience representing companies in complex disputes in federal and state courts nationwide, at both the trial and appellate levels. Jason is a member of the firm’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Council. He earned his law degree from NYU School of Law where, among other things, he was Co-Chair of OUTLaw.
Panelists will include: Denyse Jones is a litigator who advocates for clients on matters related to land use, construction defects, transportation projects, property taxes and title insurance. Denyse has experience not only in federal and state courts and arbitration forums, but also before the Missouri State Tax Commission and multiple municipal boards of adjustment. Denyse earned her law degree from Tulane University Law School. Upon graduation, she clerked for the Hon. Duane Benton of the Supreme Court of Missouri. Denyse is a member of the firm’s DEI Council.
Ernesto Segura is a real estate transactions specialist who is a key player in high-profile real estate and public financing transactions across the Midwest. Ernesto advises clients on developments that impact the local landscape and economy. Ernesto is Chair of the firm’s Executive Recruiting Committee in St. Louis and is also a member of the firm’s DEI Council. Ernesto earned his law degree from St. Louis University School of law.
Shannon Peters is a litigator who advocates for small and large businesses facing complex product liability, toxic tort, and intellectual property issues. With experience as an engineer and small business owner in the automotive industry, Shannon frequently taps into his passion for technical matters based on mechanical or product complexities. Shannon is vice chair of the board for Room at the Inn, an organization that provides immediate, temporary shelter to homeless women and families in the St. Louis region. He earned his law degree and the University of Illinois College of Law
