Thank you to every student who attended the 8th Annual Diversity Expo virtually and in-person! Maybe you got to see every employer on your list. Maybe you didn’t. There’s one essential thing you can do in either circumstance: write the employer.

Starting this weekend and early next week, make sure you express your gratitude to employers who helped make it possible.

How? One essential way:

WRITE THANK YOUS.

It is very important that you make timely contact with employers-this could be handwritten or an email. Weekend emails are a gray area, so you do not have to prioritize it over the weekend.

BUT WHENEVER YOU CHOOSE TO SAY “THANKS” INCLUDE THESE IN YOUR NOTE IF YOU MET:

  • Be appreciative of their time,
  • Mention something memorable you discussed, and
  • Include a sentence about the future and your plans “I will be applying to your firm after speaking with you,” etc.

If you didn’t get to see one of your top employers, that’s okay. You can still write them.

WHAT CAN YOU MENTION? SEVERAL TRUE, GENUINE THINGS:

  • Express that you wanted to see them, but were unable to (do not mention the firms you prioritized over them),
  • Mention why you are interested in them, and
  • Thank them for their time. It means a lot that they availed themselves to students.
