Program Overview
Established in 2014, the PracticePro 1L Diversity Scholar Program (DSP) is a coaching, training, and recruiting program designed to help law students secure their dream employment while simultaneously preparing them with the skills, knowledge, confidence, and savvy they need to flourish in their legal positions and advance in corporate leadership roles.
Program Components & Benefits
Students admitted into the program can take advantage of the following DSP benefits:
- Free tuition to attend a PracticePro Career Conference (Spring 2024)
- Participation in exclusive recruiting receptions and resume collection (Spring/Summer 2024)
- Career coaching package, including full revision of application materials and networking emails, 1:1 customized strategy sessions, and email coaching (April – September 2024)
- Pre-OCI and summer associate training webinars on topics covering resumes and cover letters, advanced interviewing techniques, networking, assessing firms, and more (Spring & Summer 2024)
- Recommendations for employment and scholarships to our firm partners
- Mentorship match to in-house corporate counsel to learn client collaboration and business development (after bar admission)
Eligibility
(1) First-year law student (Class of 2026) enrolled at an ABA-accredited law school; and
(2) A personal background that contributes to the diversity of the legal profession, including but not limited to gender, racial, or ethnic groups historically underrepresented in the legal profession, the LGBTQ+ community, those with a disability, socioeconomic need, military experience, first-generation educational status, or other considerable hardships or challenges; and (3) A strong commitment to increasing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in the legal profession.

- A short statement (400 word limit) on how your life experiences have impacted your desire to become an attorney, your commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, and why you would like to be part of the 1L Diversity Scholar Program. (Please include the total word count at the end of the page.)

- Law school transcript
- A 2-minute video introducing yourself
Submission Instructions:
- Please submit #2-6 by emailing scholarships@practicepro.cc, email subject line “Diversity Scholar Program – [your law school name]”.
- You must submit one PDF, containing items #2-4 (or #2-5 if you apply after first semester law school grades become available), titled “Full Name (Law School)_1L DSP Application,” e.g., Bailey Robinson (Emory)_1L DSP Application. You can either include a link to your video (#6) in the PDF file or attach it as a separate file in your transmission email.
- We are aware that grades may not be released until after the January application deadline. You must apply before the deadline, and then supplement your application with your law school transcript as soon as your grades are released. When you supplement your application with your law school transcript, please save and submit it as “Full Name (Your Law School)_Law School Transcript,” e.g., Bailey Robinson (Emory)_Law School Transcript.
- Unofficial copies of transcripts are sufficient. Please ensure that you include a transcript/grades for any credits that transferred to your undergraduate institution.
- For #6, smartphone recordings are fine. Please ensure that you have not restricted the accessibility or permission to view your video prior to sending it to us. The video needs to be available for download. We prefer standalone MP4 files that can be sent as an attachment in your application email. You can also share a Vimeo or YouTube link which can be unlisted but must remain available for access until August 1, 2024.
