NEXT WEEK | 1L Summer Public Interest Program Information Session

Join the Career Center on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 12 PM in AB Hall 309 for an in-person informationalsession for 1L students applying for the 1L Summer Public Interest Program (1L SPIP).

The 1L SPIP is part of WashULaw’s commitment to supporting our students who choose to pursue careers in the public sector. This program provides financial support to students who would otherwise be unable to work in unpaid public sector internships over the summer.  Through 1L SPIP, WashULaw offers funding of up to $3,000 (less taxes) for 1L students who work full-time in eligible positions for a minimum of six weeks (roughly 240 hours). The 1L SPIP application opens on Monday, Feb. 26, 2024.

An eligible position is one in which you are:

  • Working for the public interest in a legal, policy, legislative, or advocacy setting under legal supervision, and in a position where at least one year of law school is required; and
  • Working for a non-profit organization, government office, or in a judicial externship/internship program; and
  • Working in a position where you are not receiving payment intended to compensate you for work performed during the internship, whether from your place of employment or outside funding.

Please join us for an interactive and insightful panel discussion designed to help law students navigate the fast-paced pre-OCI recruitment process known as “precruiting.” Foley attorneys will provide valuable information about the precruiting process and share their candid advice. You’ll also have a chance to learn more about Foley and engage with our panelists, other attorneys, and recruiting professionals in breakout rooms immediately following the discussion. Breakout rooms will be organized by geographic region so that participants can network and ask questions pertaining to the region(s) that interest them.

DEADLINE EXTENDED | Hispanic Bar STL Mentorship

The Hispanic Bar Association St. Louis has extended the deadline for participating in its mentoring program. The program is meant to benefit underserved law students actively involved in the Hispanic/Latinx community. The new deadline is February 23. Click for more details.

The Summer Public Interest Program (SPIP) is part of WashULaw’s commitment to supporting students pursuing careers in the public sector. This program provides financial support to students who would otherwise be unable to work in unpaid public sector summer internships.  The application for 2L candidates is open now and closes on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

An eligible position is one in which you are:

  • Working for the public interest in a legal, policy, legislative, or advocacy setting under legal supervision, and in a position where at least one year of law school is required; and
  • Working for a non-profit organization, government office, or in a judicial externship/internship program; and
