The Shook Scholars Institute will give participants a unique opportunity to learn practical skills from some of the firm’s top attorneys in an interactive, small-group setting. The program will also provide participants with access to valuable networking and mentoring relationships.
The Shook Scholars Institute will take place in the City, Kansas Missouri offices from Thursday, October 25 through Saturday, October 27, 2018, and involve a trial practice program as well as sessions on lawyering, leadership, and success strategies. The program is open to all self-identified, racially and/or ethnically diverse and/or LGBTQ second-year law students enrolled full-time in an ABA-accredited law school. Students can apply through the website any time between now and September 28, 2018. Students will be selected based on factors including academic performance, leadership, personal achievement, community involvement, and commitment to diversity and inclusion. Shook will provide student travel, lodging, and meals. Additional information regarding the program and application process can be found on the website.
At Shook, we pride ourselves on our long-standing commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. We recognize that the varied perspectives and experiences found in a diverse and inclusive workplace create a broader, richer environment, and produce innovative solutions for our clients. At the same time, we recognize that diverse law students continue to disproportionately experience obstacles to success in the legal profession.
We believe this program will give students a chance to benefit from our experience in both civil litigation and diversity and inclusion efforts, and would be delighted to support the success of your students in this way.
