About the Legal & Regulatory Group:
The Legal & Regulatory Group is responsible for partnering with Bridgewater businesses to protect the legal and regulatory interests of Bridgewater, to manage legal and regulatory risk, and to ensure that employees act in accordance with the highest legal and ethical standards. Our group maintains in-house expertise in many areas, including corporate, investment management, private funds, intellectual property, employment law, and regulatory compliance. The team works closely with a broad range of departments within the firm and manages active relationships with external counsel.
About the Role:
We are currently seeking exceptional 1L legal summer interns who are practical, logical, intelligent, and highly motivated to work on a wide variety of subject matter areas across the Legal and Regulatory Group. You should enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and be able to juggle a number of priorities. The position will have direct exposure to attorneys with a wide breadth of subject matter expertise as well as varying levels of experience. The position requires excellent communication and analytical skills, and the right candidate will be eager to give and receive critical feedback, find ways to improve internal processes and procedures, and be committed to the continuous development and improvement of her/himself.
You will drive the following responsibilities:
• Providing leverage to attorneys in support of the department’s goals and responsibilities, which is likely to include many of the following:
o Recommending improvements to processes to protect against legal and regulatory risk
o Tracking and helping advise on the implementation of regulatory changes
o Drafting, negotiating and reviewing agreements and associated disclosures
o Assisting in the corporate secretarial function, including the preparation and review of minutes, resolutions, charters and other related documents
o Providing high-quality legal research and analysis on a variety of legal and regulatory matters
We are looking for candidates with the following minimum qualifications:
• First year law student
• Extraordinary written and verbal interpersonal skills
• High quality intellect, creativity, decision-making capabilities and judgment
• Ability to prioritize and maintain high quality work
• Willing to give and receive constant feedback and find ways to improve internal processes and procedures
• Integrity and strong ethical orientation

*Please note that we are only accepting applications from 1L law school students and do not anticipate hiring full time lawyers directly out of law school.
Physical Requirements
For most of our roles, Bridgewater offers remote work flexibility, with most employees required to work on campus as their principal work location, a minimum of two days (and in some cases three days) per week with the
option to work offsite on other days.
Compensation
Your salary will be $6,500 biweekly (less applicable deductions and withholdings) for the eight-week internship, and in addition you will be eligible for a signing bonus of $15,000
