Blockchains, Big Data, and Biometrics, Oh My”, a two-hour event that will delve into both the legal and technical issues with emerging technologies, will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, in Anheuser-Busch Hall at Washington University. Sponsored by the Washington University School of Law, Ice Miller LLP, and Stinson Leonard Street LLP, this program will help attendees understand blockchain, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies and appreciate the risks that these technologies pose.

Eschewing the typical canned panels and lifeless talks, “Blockchains, Big Data, and Biometrics, Oh My” will include TED-style talks, fireside chats, and rapid-fire Q&A sessions. “The program’s combination of attorneys, privacy professionals, law professors, in-house counsel, developers, and technologists will help listeners immerse themselves in the future of banking, business, and the law” explained co-organizer Justin Steffen, a litigation partner at Ice Miller LLP.

“Rather than focusing solely on the basics, this event will highlight both the risks new technologies raise and identify basic steps that attorneys and compliance professionals can take to ensure they are innovating responsibly” added co-organizer Nicci Warr, a litigation partner at Stinson Leonard Street LLP.

This event will be led by WashULaw alum Justin Steffen (’07)
Litigation Partner at Ice Miller LLP, National Law Journal Cryptocurrency, Blockchain, and FinTech Trailblazer, and Law Professor at Loyola University School of Law where he teaches on FinTech and the Law.

Additional panelists include, but not limited to:

Nicci Warr – Litigation Partner at Stinson Leonard Street LLP where she focuses on how antitrust and trade-practices laws apply to new and emerging technologies.
