A note from William Northrop…

My name is William Northrop, and I am writing to you as one of the Co-Founders of the Democratic Law Students of America (DLSA). The purpose of this email is to announce a great opportunity for current law students and those who graduated law school within the last three years to work with the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on voter protection.

Before diving right into this opportunity, I would like to give you background on DLSA. DLSA is a national organization that was formed after the 2016 election by law students who shared the common goal of upholding constitutional, liberal, and progressive ideological rights within the Democratic Party. We seek to engage with those who are studying law and who want to be more engaged in Democratic politics. We believe it is important, now more than ever, for those who are well versed in the law to ensure that it can be used so that everyone’s voice can be heard.

Because we believe in ensuring the law works for everyone, especially those who are at a disadvantage, we have been working hard with the DNC Voter Protection and Civic Engagement Department to provide the opportunity for law students and newly graduated lawyers to become a part of our new Voter Advisory Board. The mission of the Civic Engagement and Voter Participation Department is to ensure every eligible American is engaged as an active participant in our Democracy and is able to vote in free, fair, and accessible elections. The purpose of this partnership is to assist and advise the DNC Civic Engagement and Voter Protection Department. Those who will sit on the board will conduct legal research, as well as look at successful and unsuccessful voting laws, accessibility to polls, and accessibility to voting for people with disabilities. The application deadline to apply for this board is October 30th. Click HERE for application.

Thank you for your time,
