Since 2013, the JEP has helped attorneys build innovative sustainable practices that target middle income clients who make too much for legal aid, but generally can’t afford traditionally priced legal services. In 2017 alone, the 50 attorneys in the JEP Network—comprised of individuals currently in the 18 month program, and graduates who remain committed to JEP Principles and Standards—helped over 5,000 clients, 4,000 of whom fell below 400% of the FPL. And though the Network attorneys are all great people, helping those clients wasn’t an act of charity—those firms generated $4 million in revenue providing services to an underserved population. We know there are plenty more potential clients in need of affordable help, and we’re looking for the next group of up to 10 to join our program and take advantage of the training, resources, and network that it offers.
