November at WashU School of Law brings pretty fall colors, cooler temperatures and exam anxiety for all. But for 1Ls, it also signals the coming of Diversity Week. This is a week of workshops and networking opportunities designed to introduce 1Ls to the career and scholarship opportunities available to diverse 1L s.  This week culminates in a expo, and if nothing else makes it onto your calendar, do not miss this event.  Employers recognize the unique value that you can add to their teams, and they are traveling to campus looking to meet you and win you over! This is your chance to peek behind the curtain of the applicant screening process, career paths and company cultures before you begin the job application process on December 1st. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about practice areas that interest you, and to window shop a variety of career paths if you are not sure what type of law you’d like to practice. If there is a geographical area you’ve got your sights set on, you will not get a better opportunity than this one to make a real connection with an attorney in the area- and these connections pay off exponentially!  So pencil this event [1L Diversity Expo]  into your calendar, iron your suit and practice your firm handshake. Its GO TIME and you’re more ready than you think.
