Every semester, all students (1Ls, 2Ls and 3Ls) should obtain a copy of their official transcript after grades are released. Students can order an official transcript through Webstac or through the Office of the University Registrar. The next bidding deadline is Monday, January 15th @ 11:59 PM CT. 1Ls, If you have not already done so, please order your transcripts before the next bidding deadline.
Below you will find answers to common transcript questions:
When should I order my official transcript? You should order your transcript once you have received all of your 2023 fall semester grades and your cumulative GPA has been calculated in Webstac. If you believe your semester GPA qualifies you for Dean’s List and you want that designation to show on your transcript, you will need to wait until you receive an email from Dean Walsh confirming when the Dean’s List designation will be added to your transcript. If you do not receive your transcript in time for early OCI, please only bid with the university approved grade sheet.
What is the cost? A copy of your official transcript only costs $10. You will only need to purchase one time per semester.
The position I am applying for only requires an unofficial transcript. Should I submit my Webstac unofficial transcript? No. Submit a .pdf copy of your official transcript (see below). Let’s get down in the weeds for a moment. Technically, a transcript is only an official transcript when sent directly from Parchment (the transcript vendor) to the employer recipient. This means that when you forward your .pdf transcript to an employer, it becomes an unofficial transcript. When employers ask applicants to submit their official transcripts, they do not expect (or want) you to order a new transcript through Parchment to be sent directly to them. They expect you to submit a .pdf copy of your official transcript. Bottom line: Unless an employer specifically asks for an official transcript sent to them directly from the university, submit a .pdf of your official transcript for positions that request an official or unofficial transcript.
My official transcript includes a cover page saying that it is not permissible to replicate or forward the document. What should I do? You can disregard this instruction. It is also permissible to delete the “How to Authenticate This Official Transcript” cover page prior to sending your transcript. Deleting this page should also solve any errors that you receive when uploading to Symplicity.
When I bid with my official transcript, the text on the transcript becomes jumbled. How do I fix this? Before uploading your official transcript to Symplicity, open your official transcript with Google Chrome and print to .pdf ( see instruction below). This will allow you to delete the cover page and eliminate any error or encryption that may cause the information to be unreadable.
To print to .pdf, right click on your transcript, select “open with”, chose Google Chrome, select print, and in the printer options, look for an option called “print to PDF” or “PDF creator”. If you have trouble, the Career Center can help you with this., just email your transcript to lawcareers@wustl.edu.
