Fellow Will Focus On High Priority Legal Concerns of Low-Income People

Empire Justice Center is currently accepting applications for The Hanna S. Cohn Equal Justice Fellowship, a two-year post graduate legal fellowship that was established in memory of Hanna S. Cohn, who served as the Executive Director of Volunteer Legal Services Project (now known as JustCause) for twenty years. Former U.S. District Judge Michael Telesca characterized Hanna as a “drum major for justice… who devoted her life to those in need.”

How to Apply

The Fellow will be placed at the Rochester, NY office of Empire Justice and will represent low-income clients in complex areas of law through litigation, policy and systems change advocacy.  The Fellow’s background and interests will be matched with high priority legal concerns of low-income individuals that are not currently being addressed or that require additional resources. 

The application deadline is October 27, 2023. The Fellow will be notified in January, 2024 and will begin work in September, 2024. Download a fillable pdf application.  An online application is also available.
