Whether you are going home for the holiday or traveling, there is probably an employer hosted winter reception or event in your city. Attendance to at least one of these events puts you one step ahead in the recruiting process. For you, it is a way to more about employers, practice areas and office cultures and make some connections. For employers, it is a way to put faces with names while learning more about you and your legal aspirations.
Be sure to RSVP to these events by the deadline. If you can not make the date, but are interested in the firm, reach out to the Career Center for help drafting an email to the recruiter to still show interest or brainstorm ideas on how to connect in a different way.
When you submit your RSVP, you are expected to attend and engage. Should something come up and you are no longer able to attend, send an email of regret so that the employer is not expecting you. Over winter break don’t forget to take a moment and read the blog for more tips on how to maximize your winter break.
