2020-2021 George N. Lindsay Fellowship
The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, one of the nation’s foremost civil rights legal organizations, annually sponsors the one-year George N. Lindsay Civil Rights Fellowship. The Lindsay Fellowship provides an opportunity for recent law school graduates to become familiar with civil rights practice by working with many of the nation’s leading civil rights experts at the national office of the Lawyers’ Committee in Washington, D.C. The Fellowship pays a stipend of $57,500, supplemented by a loan forgiveness payment of $2,000. The yearly stipend is also supplemented by payment of bar review and fees. Fellows have the opportunity to gain legal experience in one or more of the following areas: Voting Rights, Employment Discrimination, Criminal Justice, Education, Stop Hate, Public Policy, Special Litigation and Advocacy, or Fair Housing and Community Development.
Applicants can have, at most, two years of practice by the time the fellowship starts (clerkships excluded). Current law students who expect to graduate in the spring of 2020 (i.e. students who are currently in their second year of law school) are encouraged to apply.
