About the Role
We are looking for law school interns who are energetic, detail-oriented, and efficient multitaskers, who would enjoy working collaboratively in an in-house environment. Here are some of the traits we want to see: You shine in a fast-paced environment and thrive on the success of a job well done. You’re the type of person who will leave no stone unturned when conducting legal research. You take the initiative to independently tackle complex and novel tasks. When you say “I’ll take care of it,” we know it’ll be done well. You will develop skills in critical thinking, legal research & writing, including translating legalese for non-legal audiences, contract drafting, legal operations and policy development.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Help the Legal, Compliance & Government Affairs team be more productive, effective and organized.
- Conduct legal research and work with business, product, marketing, operations, and engineering teams on topics such as privacy (e.g., HIPAA, CCPA, CPRA, GDPR), advertising (e.g., UDAAP & CAN-SPAM), intellectual property (e.g., trademarks, patents, open source), employment (e.g., wage & hour, employment tax, payroll & ERISA), international law, public policy, corporate governance, benefits (e.g., ERISA, ACA), and financial services (e.g., lending, banking, money transmission, AML/BSA, financial crime, and other financial services matters).
- Negotiate and revise vendor and partnership agreements.
- Respond to the day-to-day needs of operations, sales, product, and engineering teams.
- Create legal and compliance “how-to” presentations.
- Create legal and compliance wikis for use by the whole company.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Rising 2Ls from an accredited law school.
- Available full-time for at least 10-12 weeks during the Summer 2023 (40 hours a week).
- Able to think critically and come up with creative solutions.
- Thrives working on cross-functional teams.
- Experience in researching and synthesizing federal and state regulations on complex topics.
- Strong legal writing and analysis, and ability to communicate to non-legal audiences.
- Extremely organized and strong attention to detail.
- Thrives working cross-functionally.
- Enthusiastic about learning new disciplines.
