International Arbitration & Dispute Resolution Symposium
The 2019 International Arbitration & Dispute Resolution Symposium:
Challenges and Controversies in International Arbitration
On March 1, 2019, the Harris Institute hosted the International
Arbitration & Dispute Resolution Symposium: Challenges and
Controversies in International Arbitration. The Symposium
brought together private practitioners, in-house and
government counsel, academics, arbitration and mediation
institutions, engaged users of international arbitration and
dispute resolution, and students. The Keynote Address was
delivered by Sophie Nappert, 3VB Barristers, which was
followed by panel discussions on current developments in the
fields of arbitration and dispute resolution and a networking
reception.
The 2019 Symposium was co-sponsored by the WashULaw
Negotiation & Dispute Resolution Program; the Center for
Career Development; International and Graduate Programs;
the Claro Group; the American Arbitration Association and
its International Centre for Dispute Resolution; the American
Branch of the International Law Association; the Asian
International Arbitration Centre; the International Chamber
of Commerce and its International Court of Arbitration; the
National Academy of Arbitrators; and U.S. Arbitration &
Mediation.
This annual Symposium allows practitioners, academics,
attorneys, and students to explore sophisticated topics in
international arbitration and dispute resolution, advance
the development of the field, educate the next generation of
lawyers, and connect with each other. The next Symposium
will be held in spring 2020.
