In October 2018, H.E. Judge Christine Van den Wyngaert 
received the Harris Institute's World Peace Through Law 
Award. Judge Van den Wyngaert was recognized for her 
significant contributions to the pursuit of justice through 
international legal mechanisms. She is currently serving as 
a judge for the Kosovo Specialist Chambers and previously 
served as a judge at the International Criminal Court, the 
International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, 
and the International Court of Justice (ad hoc).  

The World Peace Through Law celebration also honored 
Steven "Cash" Nickerson, JD '85, MBA '93, who has 
been instrumental to the success of the Crimes Against 
Humanity Initiative.  Mr. Nickerson has generously 
supported the Harris Institute since its inception and has 
served as a member of the Law School's National Council 
for several years. He is the President and a Principal of PDS 
Tech, Inc., one of the largest engineering and IT staffing 
firms in the United States. Mr. Nickerson previously served 
as an attorney and marketing executive for Union Pacific 
Railroad and as an associate and partner at Jenner & Block 
in Chicago. He is the author of eight books.
